You will visit the site of the original Cotton Club – the place where Duke Ellington and Lena Horne performed; drive past the Savoy Ballroom where Chich Webb and Benny Goodman became famous, and where the Charleston, the ‘Big Apple’ and “Lindy Hop” became firmly cemented into the culture of America. Besides, you will see the world-famous Apollo Theater where Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald won the popular “Amateur Night”; pass by Minton’s Playhouse – the birthplace of bebop; and of course one of Harlem’s greatest clubs with its jam sessions.
And when the night starts… oh, then the whole adventure and fun begin! Swing dance the night away, take free dance lessons, mingle with the locals, enjoy the mesmerizing sounds of jazz and rythm & blues bands, and of course enjoy “Soul Food” – traditional African American cuisine consisting of spicy ribs, collard greens, freshly cooked corn bread, black eye peas, and wonderful crispy fried chicken!
