Day 2  Chianti walking & wine:  Walk through vineyards and shady trails of Chianti region  *  Gourmet picnic lunch  *  Fortified village of Volpaia  *  Pre-dinner tasting of the local wines  *  Overnight Fattoria Castelvecchi

Day 3-4  Siena & Montalcino:  Private tour of Siena, historic rival of Florence  *  Afternoon free to explore the colorful town  *  Benedictine abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore  *  Easy walk to picturesque hill town of Montalcino  *  Tasting of wines & cheeses, or climb the Fortezza for views  *  Dinners at the castle  *  2 nights at Castello di Leonina


Day 5  Infiorata di Pienza:  Travel to Pienza on the day of the infiorata  *  The streets of town are covered in designs made of millions of fresh flower petals  *  Walk through peaceful Val d'Orcia *  Overnight Il Chiostro di Pienza

Day 6-7  Etruscan exploration:  Visit Etruscan town of Sovana  *  Explore mysterious "vie cave", roads excavated by the ancients  *  Visit massive Etruscan tombs  *  Farewell dinner  *  Overnight Hotel Scilla  *  Transfer back to Florence for flights home, or optional longer stay (find some ideas in the full itinerary)
