High level itinerary

Day 1:   Meet in Savannah * See the natural side of the region, kayaking around the barrier islands * Lunch at a fun, open-air restaurant * Visit Tybee Island for its lighthouse and beaches * Overnight Savannah


Day 2:  Walking tour of historic Savannah and its many lovely green squares * Authentic southern fare at a local favorite (unbelievable!) * Nighttime visit to the eerie "Garden of Good & Evil" * Overnight Savannah


Day 3:  Tour a historic antebellum mansion, and see how the wealthy lived * Head north to Charleston * Discover the city's beautiful mansions on a horse-drawn carriage tour * Overnight Charleston


Day 4:  Visit a spectacular plantation that's older than the US itself * Tour incredible gardens, see working parts of the plantation and slaves quarters * Free time to shop or explore in the afternoon * Dinner is upscale lowcountry cuisine at a well-known restaurant * Overnight Charleston


Day 5:  Boat trip to Fort Sumter * This is the site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired * Lunch in Charleston * Return to Savannah


Optional ending
Women who have extra time at the end of the trip can choose whether to stay on in Charleston or Savannah. The group returns to Savannah on day 5, but you could choose to spend another day or two on your own in Charleston if you preferred.
