High level itinerary

Day 1: Rendezvous at Belize Airport * Boat to small island of Ambergris Caye * Check in to your condo hotel in San Pedro * Head to a local snorkel spot not far from the hotel * Get to know each other over a welcome dinner * 2 nights at the Paradise Villas, Ambergris Caye

Day 2:  Explore Belize's UNESCO World Heritage Reef * Boat to a Marine Reserve and snorkel with tropical fish * Adventurous souls can also snorkel with sharks and sting rays! * Enjoy a beach barbecue and back to town

Day 3: Puddle-jumper flight back to Belize City, then transfer to Cayo * Take a tiny, hand-cranked car ferry to reach Mayan ruins of Xunantunich * Climb the pyramid if you choose, or hear of its history from the bottom * Check in to your thatched cabin at Pook's Hill Lodge (2 nights)

Day 4:  Cave adventures await today! * Choose between an easy cave canoeing trip into an ancient Mayan cave *OR* a fairly strenuous caving trip to a different cave used for ancient Mayan sacrifices * Back at the lodge, explore trails, swim, tube, or just relax

Day 5: Discover jungle wildlife on a morning nature walk * Transfer by road & by boat to Lamanai area * Your archaeologist guide gives "behind the scenes" look at relics of this ancient Mayan city * Visit nearby village, and meet some of the local people * 2 nights at Lamanai Outpost Lodge

Day 6: Explore the ruins of Lamanai, a 3,000 year old city * Learn about the life & mysteries of the ancient Mayans * Hands-on cooking demonstration by local women of the village * Tonight take an exciting spotlight safari on the river for nocturnal wildlife

Day 7: Early morning jungle excursion to see tropical plants & animals * Back down the river and road to Belize City * Trip ends at Belize Airport
