I like how you saw more layers of meaning in that over time! It's true in so many ways, isn't it? Creating an essay, creating a pot, or creating your life. It's a much more powerful viewpoint than seeing life as something that happens to you.

That's an excellent outlook. I once had an English teacher say to me "think of this essay as clay. you can pull it and pinch it, and do whatever you want with it. B.S. all you need to, at the end it's still clay - just in a different form."

At the time, all I took away from that was "I could write a 1500 word paper in an hour, and still feel good about it, and clear my 80%" but as I grew older, I started to apply it to life. You really do just need to take your raw material and work it. You can leave them as they are, or you can make something fantastic out of it.
